Funny story.. I actually saw the same metro lady at my stop today. We walked past each other and at the same time looked back and laughed and said "Hola". Such a cutie pie. Spanish people are very friendly. Speaking of nice people, I also had an interesting conversation with a man on the metro that same night on my way home. He told me about his two daughters, one who lives in Florida, and about how he doesn't speak to his wife anymore. A couple things that were tmi or that I completely misunderstood, but either way he was very sweet and patient when I attempted to contribute to the conversation.
Lucky me, I have two different connections here in Barcelona. The Kormans and the Doran's family friends, the Toomeys. For anyone who doesn't know the Dorans... they are basically my second family and I miss them! (Hi guys) Mrs. Doran insisted I meet with her friend Ardith and so I did! We went to an amazing place for lunch inside a market where I had chicken fried rice. It was the first restaurant I have been to where they give you bread before you eat!!! I was so excited about the bread I had two pieces even though it was whole grain or whole wheat or whatever healthy type of bread it was! I really am starting to appreciate the little American things like free bread or chips before dinner and FREE COLD WATER WITH ICE. Water here costs just as much if not more than wine! And you have to specify you want cold water with ice. Not a fan of this rule. Back to lunch... after that we walked around and she took me to the cutest cafe where we had yummy cookies and I tried to have milk, but they gave me warm frothed milk? I don't really know what it was, but it was not for me. Regardless I had a great day with Ardith.
I have also visited Park Güell, which is a park with a beautiful views and buildings. The famous artist Gaudí made the park where he lived (you can go inside his real home). Everything is a piece of art. If you want to see cool buildings that semi resemble a gingerbread house (to me) check him out. The roomies and I had so much fun exploring and we decided we will go back with a picnic basket and find a table overlooking the city. There are so many cool places to look out on this incredible city. Park Güell is gorgeous, but gave me shin splints. I'm not blaming the park because I know I am so out of shape its unbelievable. 💀
Here are some pictures!! Until next time my dedicated readers... xoxo
