My lovely weekend:
Friday: dragged Avery out of bed to go to Parc de la Cuitadella to lay on a blanket and soak up some UV rays in attempts to make my skin a little less transparent. Even my spanish teacher told me I looked too pale. Thanks Angela!! (In Spain, students call their teachers by their first names. It's too weird for me so I usually just say "excuse me" or stare at them till they look back)
Saturday: Went to the beach to rent bikes. Avery and I rented bikes for 10 euros for 6 hours, which I think was a great deal. We rode as far down as we could along the coast. There are a bunch of different beaches (some nude that I biked a little faster past). Something that surprised me was the park they have right next to the beach with grass, trees, and a skateboarding park! There were so many people walking, biking, rollerblading, swimming, tanning, doing anything and everything. Four hours later and bruised butt bones (stinkin' bony butt problems), we got dinner by the beach.
Sunday: Avery and I went to Tibidabo. Tibidabo is an amusement park on the top of a big hill/mountain? over looking Barcelona. It was packed with screaming little kids and all the lovely amusement park people you find in the US. My favorite part of the day was probably going into what we thought was a Tower of Terror type ride called Hotel Krueger (yes like freddy krueger), but was actually a haunted hotel that you walked through while scary people and on the occasion scary midgets jump out at you, follow you, or get all up in your grill. I wish I recorded Avery's reactions... I was laughing so hard I barely could be scared enough to scream. There was also a church on top the mountain where once again the whole city of Barcelona was in perfect view. I have seen so many different views of Barcelona I swear I could free hand draw it. (I'm exaggerating) But the church was awesome and while we were inside an organ player was playing really beautiful and creepy organ music. If I was able to post videos on this website, I would, but I cannot :(.
Summary of my weekend: Avery and I may seem attached at the hip but I swear we don't spend every second with each other. Great weekend to end the first and biggest part of my study abroad experience.
Thursday I leave for Rome, Florence, and Venice. I come home the 17th and then my parents come the 18th!!!!!!!!!!
Expect more posts and pretty pictures.
Xoxo
