Jetlag is real... Napping in the middle of the day and up all night is the norm for now. I plan on buying some melatonin and forcing a normal sleeping schedule upon myself.
I've been here 4 days, but feels like just yesterday I walked into this beautiful and large apartment. There are seven us who get to share this lovely place. It is located on a street Gran Vias. We have everything we need in walking distance and gorgeous views of this incredible city. Although I have to share a room for the first time since Liv and I pushed our beds together circa the 90's, my roommate Jess is awesome. She accepts my sleeping wardrobe or lack thereof. (Hi Jess thanks you rock)
Besides sleeping from 7am to 4pm... I have explored a tad. I had two orientations one for classes and the other for health and safety. In the school orientation I learned because of the program I am in, Spanish Language and Culture, I will be here for 3 more weeks than everyone else in my apartment! 😳 So if you lovely people will pray for me to make some nice spanish friends I'd appreciate it. And the health & safety orientation was basically just the millionth time I was told that pick pocketing is a profession here. One of my roommates already got her phone stolen so needless to say I've been wearing my bag under my coat. (Don't worry mom)
Good news! I haven't made a fool of myself speaking spanish yet, and I have tried to speak as much as I can. My number one concern coming to Barcelona was that I would be too nervous to speak. Surprisingly, I feel very comfortable speaking! The people are very friendly. I am not worried about learning more spanish because just one of my spanish classes is 8 credits/hours... and then I have another one on top of that. So if I don't come back a Spaniard I want my money back.
Ps. I've said Roll Tide at least 4 times since I've been here. Met some Michigan students who tried to remind me of a certain bowl game but then I just reminded them 41-14 ;) (I looked up the score I'm not that good) RTR
