Nothing too major has happened so far in regards to exciting adventures and wild stories, but I have explored a little! (and shopped hehe) Don't worry mom I have only bought a pair of socks. Speaking of socks, I am starting to get holes in my socks... HOLES from walking! Either my feet have grown or my socks have shrunk or I am walking too much. Realistically, I take the metro like everywhere. Every time I take the metro I think about the reaction I will get from my parents, specifically my father, when I tell them I know the metro better than I know the actual streets. They are coming to visit (Dad I don't care what you say.. you're coming! To which my dad would respond "Okay you pay") and I best learn how to navigate the streets like a true barcelonian (new word?)
I hope I don't confuse y'all with my inner dialogue with myself.
Tuesday and Wednesday I bought a two day bus tour ticket. East side/West side. East side was significantly more fun and the weather was sunny and warm unlike the cloudy, cold west side tour. I wonder if my east side preference was a subconscious Jersey thing. 💁 You can see the non-blurry pictures from my tours on Facebook, but I'll post some below.
So I guess I should tell a funny getting lost story because that's what all study abroad students go through right? Well Avery (my roommate who goes to Wisconsin) and I went to our program's main study center. I had orientation for my spanish class at University of Barcelona and Avery went to get coffee before we both went to our next class. There are two CEA (my program) buildings for class they're about 10 minutes walking or two/three metro stops. I obviously prefer the metro route. So, I had orientation at the main building and thinking I had my next class at the other building I waited outside for Avery to come back from coffee so I could go to my class. Even in Alabama where I know exactly where class is I leave at least 30 minutes early, so here I leave like 45 minutes early. My next class was at 12:45 and my orientation ended at 11:30 so I waited outside the building till 12:07 and silently cursed the fact that only Jess, Katie, and I have spanish phones and went on my merry way to the other CEA center. I get there and as I'm riding up the elevator I think to myself "Hey silly goose, you don't have class here, you have class at the building you just left!" Too bad, so sad. It was now like 12:20 and being late to this spanish class is a big no-no. So, I run outside and I guess since I was in such a hurry and was so flustered I ended up walking the completely wrong direction and it took me 10 minutes to figure it out. The building is a straight walk from the metro and somehow I couldn't manage that straight three block walk. 15 minutes and two spanish conversations later, I found the metro at like 12:35 with ten minutes to spare...
I made it to class at 12:42. I am amazed at how silly I was but also at how fast I walked/how darn fast the metro is. (Explains the sock holes)
I didn't even plan on blogging tonight cause I had nothing to say, but apparently I have a lot to say.
Until my next rant
